Not sure how all of this is going to work. Have only done limited blogging on a few quilting sites. But I broke my ankle on December 3, had surgery and have been stuck at home. So I am getting really good at surfing the web while I recuperate!
A little more about me. I have been married for 28 years have two children (freshman in college and one in the never ending college mode) and work outside the home. I have 3 college degrees (BA, MSChE and MBA), and do enjoy my work, but at this stage in my life (mid 50's) I want to move on to the next phase. Engage my creative side more completely. But paying college tuitions, and now shoring up our savings for retirement will keep me working for at least another 10 - 12 years.
I have been quilting for about 15 years and love it. But I absolutely do not have enough time to spend on it. When I finish working at the end of the day, I am mentally tired. But I want to set some goals for this coming year to teach at least two classes. I have several venues to do this in so I just need to pick two projects, make the samples (the biggest hurdle) and then go to the stores and my guilds to offer to teach the class.
I also have been doing all kinds of crafts since I was 6 years old and my great grand aunt Jo and my maternal grandmother Mame, taught me to knit. We spent summers with them on the South Shore of Boston and they always knit us our winter mittens. So I learned to knit by making mittens on two needles.
My big hurdle now is to recuperate from my broken ankle. I am only in what I call Phase 2. I have the staples out of the incision, but still a full cast. I am in moderate pain most of the time and still have to keep it elevated or my foot turns blue and my leg swells. I can put slight weight down on the ankle which helps. I am doing work from home too, but sitting with the computer in my lap, gets old after a while.
I think I will break some of these early posts up.
More on my sewing adventures with my ankle, and other stuff at time goes on.
