A Beautiful View and the Next Turning 20 Quilt

DH (John) and I dropped DD off at college on Sunday. This is her sophomore year. Her school, Roger Williams University, is located on a magnificent piece of waterfront property on Mount Hope Bay, near Narraganset Bay, just north of Newport RI. This is the picture of the Mt Hope Bridge you see from most everywhere on campus. The view of the bay is even more spectacular. I'll get some shots of that on my next visit. Had to drop off a couple of things to her today (Wednesday) It was a beautiful ride down and back - it takes less than an hour each way.

I am starting the quilting on DS Turning 20 quilt. I have done the feathered wreath alrea
dy in each of the large patches of the blocks. But after struggling with DD's using a different stitch in each patch of the block I decided to do the rest of his quilt in an overall pattern. I am not confident enough in my free motion doodling to do this free hand. I picked up a template for an overall leaf pattern, and I am using my pounce. That way I can get the flow of the free motion design, but I am following the lines so to speak - I won't get "stuck" in a corner with a wonky looking pattern. Here is a picture of the pounced area. You can see one of the feathered wreaths. My goal is to work the leaves in as an overall pattern around the wreaths. We'll see. I want to get it done by next Friday when he leaves to go back to school. An ambitious deadline!

And just as I sat down to write this I got a call for the job I thought I was on the "B" team interview list for. I am at least getting a shot at talking to the hiring manager!! YEAH - it won't be until September 8, but I will practice, practice, practice before then. The HR person has given me a lot of hints and explicit direction as to what this hiring person is looking for. So prep time is here.

All in all a pretty good day!

Peace
